The Scottish capital’s famous Christmas Markets attract visitors from far and wide and are the perfect way to enjoy the festivities and tick one or two gifts off your shopping list in the process.
Wander through the many stalls and huts selling traditional Yuletide crafts and gifts, along with a host of delicious sweets and treats, enjoying a glass of gluhwein or two.
The largest of Edinburgh’s festive markets can be found at East Princes Street Gardens.
Step into Christmas at this winter wonderland in the heart of the city, with a festive fairground of carousel rides and toy stores on hand to keep the kids busy.
Meet the Man himself
You’ll also be able to go in search of the magical Elves’ Workshop hidden deep with the Christmas Tree Maze or fill-out your festive wishlist at Santa’s Grotto.
If you don’t have the kids in tow, then head over to George Street to browse the many arts and craft stores here, and sample some of the wintry treats on sale.
Admission:
Admission to all Christmas Markets is free, with Princes Street open from 10am to 10pm every day until the 6 January (8pm close on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day and open 12pm on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).
